So, we've made it to the end of January!
A massive “thank you” to everyone who has used our local beer delivery service since lockdown started. Your support means so much to us, and the take up on beer delivery has been far more than we could have hoped for! We hope that having beer (and wine and cider) delivered fresh to your door is helping you get through these difficult times. We’ll be continuing with beer delivery in Southampton for as long as the lockdown continues, so, have no fear, you can rely on Olaf’s to get your beer to you!
Starting a business isn’t easy at the best of times...starting one during a global pandemic is something else entirely! We’re lucky in the sense that, because we took the keys for Olaf’s in November, we went into this fully expecting to be unable to open to the public at some point, and so had already planned to operate a delivery service. Some of you may have caught Rob chatting with BBC Radio Solent about the challenges we - and so many of our friends in the industry - have faced trying to alter our business to work successfully within guidelines and restrictions. Ultimately, for us at least, it is the sense of community you get in a pub that we miss the most, and has been the hardest to do without, but we are so lucky to have locals and regulars that have already made us feel right at home in our little corner of Woolston.
Since opening our doors on December 17th (remember that glorious week when youcould drink in…?) we have sold nearly 1,500 pints of beer, from 20 different casks and 14 different kegs. From bitters to pales, and stouts to sours, we’ve been so excited to finally be able to sell beers that we love to drink to people just as enthusiastic as us!
You guys have been great on social media too - it’s a great way for us to interact with you while you’re unable to come in, and it’s also the best place to find out what we’ve got coming in. Thanks so much to everyone who has taken the time to leave us a review on Tripadvisor / Google / Facebook - if you haven’t yet but you’ve enjoyed our service, we’d love it if you could take a minute to do so. It really helps other people find us!
